In Hungary, organizations like the Association of Alternative Communities work in adverse contexts to empower marginalized communities and youth through school participatory budgeting.
In Slovakia, the government, with expert support, implements sustainable participation systems at the regional level.
The text also reflects on Eastern Europe’s unique position between the Global North and Global South, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and the exchange of best practices to strengthen democracy in the region.

She focuses on mainstreaming best practices in public participation and community engagement as a Co-Founder of Participation Factory and Civic Port. She is also working towards these goals as a member of the PB Practitioners Board at People Powered and a mentor at the Rising Star mentorship program offered by People Powered.
