Training and Empowerment for Participatory Decision-Making

#CIVICCAPACITIES / #COMMUNITYEMPOWERMENT

The main objective of this practice, led by FT Foundation, is to empower youth, women, displaced people, and other marginalized groups in Somalia to actively participate in decision-making and development planning. In a context of political instability and structural exclusion, the initiative aims to strengthen leadership capacities, create economic opportunities, and promote inclusion in political and community spaces.

Based on surveys of recent graduates, the organization identified key barriers such as unemployment and unequal access to participation spaces. To address these, FT Foundation implements training programs in skills development, leadership, and entrepreneurship, facilitates access to formal employment, and supports community-led initiatives.

The practice also promotes civic education, public debate, and political advocacy as tools to amplify the voices of excluded populations. Through traditional media and social networks, the initiative seeks to mobilize public opinion and generate pressure for these groups to be included in local and national decision-making
