#Summer_School
The purpose of the Summer School was to enable emerging practitioners, researchers, and democracy professionals to acquire key skills, build networks, and better understand models of participatory democracy. To achieve this, virtual workshops and surveys were organized to gather suggestions on relevant topics, ensuring a balance of perspectives from diverse actors, including government officials, NGOs, activist collectives, and academic institutions.
The design prioritized representation and diversity through a participatory approach, deliberately including Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities as well as other locally rooted perspectives.
KEY ELEMENTS
- Capacity-building for participatory democracy.
- Inclusion of Global South perspectives in democratic debates.
- Design of dynamic, experiential learning programs.
- Innovation in accessibility and knowledge management for democratic education.
- Ongoing evaluation and adaptive strategies for democratic training.
- Advocacy for the democratization of political innovation.
OUTCOMES
- The initiative led to the design of solutions like an online learning platform to store and share generated content, translated into multiple languages and accessible via online registration. Additionally, a multi-platform final product was proposed, including texts, photographs, videos, and podcasts. These components supported ongoing feedback, helping optimize activities to ensure the initiative’s effectiveness in future iterations.
- The Summer School became not only a space for technical training in participatory democracy, but also a transformative experience centered on inclusion, diversity, and innovation, laying the groundwork for impactful exchanges within global democratic ecosystems.
