Meet the mentor

Iember Amah

She is a governance and development professional with over a decade of experience advancing citizen participation, institutional strengthening, and democratic governance in Nigeria.  She currently serves as Senior Programme Officer at the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), where she leads multi-stakeholder programs promoting legislative accountability, inclusion, and evidence-based reform at national and state levels. Her work bridges policy, civic innovation, and leadership development, with a focus on creating opportunities for young people, women, and civil society to shape public policy. She has supported numerous regional and international initiatives on governance reform and social accountability, and brings a collaborative, learning-oriented approach to mentorship, believing that sustained impact comes from co-creation, curiosity, and courageous leadership.

Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC)

Founded in 2009, PLAC is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit capacity-building organisation working to strengthen democratic governance and citizens’ participation in Nigeria. Through broad-based technical assistance and training, PLAC promotes citizens’ engagement with government institutions and advocates for legal and policy reform, transparency, and accountability in decision-making. Its core programming focuses on legislative advocacy, electoral reform, citizens’ access to public policy, and anti-corruption efforts. Over more than 15 years, PLAC has become a leading institution for research, policy analysis, and advocacy in Nigeria.
